Electronics That Protect People,
Assets and Infrastructure
Security electronics carry a responsibility that most other product categories do not. Whether tracking an individual for their own safety, controlling a surveillance camera to monitor a sensitive location, or detecting the first signs of fire in a building, the electronics inside these systems must work without exception. A failure is not an inconvenience: it is a gap in the protection the system exists to provide.
At Arkle Electronic Systems, we manufacture electronics for security and safety applications where reliability is the primary requirement. Our customers include manufacturers of personal security tracking devices, remotely operated surveillance systems, and fire and safety products. With over 50 years of electronics manufacturing experience and quality systems built around consistent, documented, and traceable production, we bring the right approach to electronics that cannot afford to fail.
Security Applications We Manufacture For

Personal Security
Tracking Devices
Body-worn personal security tracking devices represent one of the most demanding form factors in the security electronics sector. Compact, lightweight, and designed for continuous wear, these devices must maintain reliable GPS and cellular connectivity, manage battery life across extended operational periods, resist tampering without generating false alerts, and withstand the physical demands of continuous body-worn use across a wide range of conditions.
The electronics inside personal tracking devices are compact, mixed-technology assemblies combining GPS receiver modules, cellular communication electronics, motion detection and accelerometry, power management and battery monitoring, and tamper detection circuits. Assembly precision, solder joint quality, and component reliability are all critical in a device where loss of connectivity or a spurious tamper alert has immediate operational consequences for the monitoring systems and operators that depend on them.
Arkle manufactures PCB assemblies and related electronics for personal security tracking equipment, applying IPC-A-610 acceptance standards and full build traceability to every unit. Conformal coating is applied where the installation environment demands protection against moisture and body heat exposure.

Motorised Servo Controls for Surveillance and CCTV
Modern surveillance systems depend on precision motorised camera positioning to track subjects, cover wide areas, and respond to triggered events with controlled, accurate movement. The electronics that drive these systems, including motor drive boards, servo control electronics, and position feedback circuits, must deliver smooth, repeatable, and low-latency response across the full operational life of the installation.
Motorised servo control electronics for surveillance applications combine power electronics for motor drive with precision control and feedback processing, communications interfaces for remote command, and position and limit sensing circuits. The thermal management of motor drive stages, the EMC discipline required to prevent motor switching noise from interfering with sensitive control and communications circuits, and the long service life expected of installed security infrastructure all place specific demands on the manufacturer.
Arkle's experience with motor drive and servo control electronics spans both the security sector and adjacent automation applications. Our mixed-technology assembly capability handles the combination of surface mount control electronics and through-hole power components that motor drive boards typically require. Full functional testing before release confirms that drive and control performance is within specification.

Fire and Safety
Electronics
Arkle is developing customer relationships in the fire and safety electronics sector, an area where the manufacturing requirements closely mirror those of our existing security and high-reliability work. Fire detection and alarm electronics must meet the requirements of BS EN 54, the European standard for fire detection and alarm systems, and the manufacturing disciplines of full traceability, documented processes, and rigorous inspection that this standard demands are consistent with Arkle's existing quality framework.
As fire and safety programmes come online, Arkle's process capability, ISO 9001:2015 certification, and experience with high-reliability electronics manufacturing positions us well to support manufacturers in this sector. If you are a fire and safety electronics manufacturer looking for a UK-based contract manufacturing partner, we welcome the conversation.
The Technical Requirements of Security Electronics Manufacturing

Reliability and Continuous Operation
Security systems are expected to operate continuously, often for years, without intervention. Unlike industrial equipment that operates in scheduled cycles, many security electronics assemblies run around the clock in uncontrolled environments: outdoor camera housings, body-worn devices, and fixed monitoring infrastructure all face conditions that vary continuously across their service life. Electronics that are not manufactured to cope with this sustained operational demand will degrade in service.
The manufacturing responses include component selection for rated operational life, solder joint quality processes that produce fatigue-resistant joints for thermally cycled assemblies, and conformal coating where moisture, temperature variation, or contamination risk is present. Full AOI and functional test before release confirms that every assembly leaves the facility to specification.

Tamper Resistance and Detection
Personal security tracking and monitoring electronics must detect and report unauthorised interference reliably. Tamper detection circuits, case breach sensors, and anti-tamper PCB design all require careful assembly: a tamper event that goes undetected, or a false tamper alert generated by a manufacturing defect, both carry operational consequences. Assembly quality and consistency directly affect the integrity of the tamper detection function.

EMC and Signal Integrity in Motor
Drive Applications
Motorised servo control electronics generate switching noise from motor drive stages that must be prevented from affecting sensitive control, communications, and positioning circuits. EMC discipline at the assembly stage, including PCB layout management, ground plane integrity, and cable routing and shielding in harness assemblies, is essential for surveillance systems where motor drive and signal processing electronics coexist.

Long Service Life and
Obsolescence Management
Security infrastructure, including fixed surveillance installations and monitoring hardware, is expected to remain in service for many years. Component obsolescence management is therefore a consideration from the point of manufacture. Arkle actively monitors component lifecycle status and supports customers with last-time-buy planning and form, fit, and function replacement strategies where obsolescence arises during a product's service life.

Security electronics manufacturers need a contract manufacturing partner who understands that consistency and traceability are not optional extras: they are the foundation of a product that performs reliably in the field across its full service life. Arkle's 50-plus years of experience across high-reliability sectors, ISO 9001:2015 quality management, and UK-based manufacturing in Stevenage, Hertfordshire provide that foundation.
We work with security electronics manufacturers from prototype through to production, with the documentation, process discipline, and direct engineering communication that sensitive applications require.
